The prayer rings have been a huge help in tracking prayers but I think it would make much more sense to show a faded color for late prayers in the ring rather than make it so it never closes unless you pray on time. That way, at a glance you will know that you have prayed your salah, albeit late. (Sort of like the prayer tracking cubes)

This would also be help any users struggling to make up prayers they’ve missed over a prolonged period.
